Choosing the Right Length of Lab Coats: Long Lab Coats vs. Short Lab Coats

For one, it's more comfortable to use, freeing you from the annoyance of very long hem. You don't necessarily need to wear extra protection when doing minor check-ups or consultations. Secondly, they can be pulled as alternative to usual coat for use in meetings or seminars as they are presentable enough. You need not wear the conventional long lab coats in such activities, unless it's a must, like in traditional ceremonies. And third, it removes the notion of other patients that you just came out of the lab, with all the infectious microorganisms clinging.

Making use of lab coats is influenced by some defined etiquettes. But while other institutions are not too strict on this aspect, doctors, nurses, pharmacists, lab technicians, medical scientists, chemists, veterinarians and other health care professionals can take the opportunity to dress in a more fashionable way. On the other hand, it's necessary that they do not ignore the safety concerns regarding the use of laboratory coats.
